Healthcare Careers for Moorfields Volunteers
30th June, 2022

A new initiative aiming to launch volunteers into careers in healthcare has started strong, with almost 50 applications to take part from our current volunteering team.
Thanks to a £25k award from Health Education England, participants in the Volunteer to Career programme will be able to apply skills they’ve used volunteering with us in placements around the Trust, gaining additional experience in the areas they’re most interested in and getting a chance to see whether a healthcare career is for them.
Over the course of six months, 25 volunteers will each spend 150 hours in placements tailored to their goals, as well as getting support and advice on applying to permanent roles, apprenticeships or further training, in Moorfields or elsewhere in the NHS.
Health Information Hub Manager Sabina Uddin, who is leading the project, says: “We are delighted to be granted this funding to expand and further develop our existing volunteer service. Senior managers across the Trust have responded with enthusiasm to support this project, and volunteers have leapt at the chance to get involved. Friends of Moorfields are looking forward to placing volunteers and supporting them through the programme.”
